General Questions

Who Can Apply?

The workshop accepts participants of any nationality.

How much does the workshop cost?

IDR 6.000.000 for local participant and US$ 500 for international participant. The course fee includes 8 days workshop, architectural excursion and all program transfers. If you accept the offer, you will be expected to book and pay in advance for your flights into and out of Sumba.

Expenses such as meals and refreshments during the workshop and excursion will be borne by SETON. Upgrades or alternate arrangements will not be covered by SETON. Participants will share rooms (2 per room).

Accommodation information will be provided closer to the date of the workshop when arrangements have been finalized. Accommodations will be moderate but comfortable, adequate and secure.

What if I chose to arrive early or stay after the IWWA 2019 finishes?

You may choose to arrive at an earlier date in Sumba. However, SETON will not pay for expenses or provide lodging and food until 15 August. If arriving early, it will be at your own expense.

SETON will not pay expenses beyond the morning of 22 August (checkout), should you choose to remain in Sumba or travel elsewhere.

What if I book a round‐trip (return) ticket to somewhere else in Indonesia (e.g. Jakarta, Bali, Kupang), rather than arrive in Sumba and leave from there to my home country?

You may choose to travel to Sumba via alternative routes provided. Local transport to/from Sumba will be borne by you; SETON will not pay for accommodations or additional related travel expenses.

How much should I expect to pay for food, medicine, toiletries, souvenir, etc. costs?

SETON will pay for most group meals (to be outlined in the forthcoming schedule). You will need to pay for specialty foods, snacks, and individual meals should you not eat the scheduled group meals provided.

Not all meals will be provided. Thus, you will need to bring enough money to cover personal living expenses during the workshop in Sumba (an approximate minimum amount is US$10‐ 15/day in Indonesia); this does not include additional expenditures as purchases of medicine, toiletries, souvenirs, shopping, laundry, telephone calls, additional meals and beverages, etc.). These conditions will be outlined in the acceptance letter.

What if I have a special diet or food restrictions?

Let us know in advance. We understand and respect different diets, food restrictions, eating habits, allergies, etc. We will accommodate as much as possible, but be prepared to bring your own special food items pending the nature of restrictions and needs. (Note: meals will not include pork).

What about passport and visa processing and costs?

You will need to pay for all passport, visa, visa processing and related costs for Indonesia if applicable to you. It is critically important you meet requirements. These may differ for different nationalities.

Does the IWWA 2019 award transferable credits?

The students will not receive any academic credits for taking part in this workshop. However, students will receive a certificate of participation upon successful completion of the full extent of the IWWA 2019.

Should your university/organization allow you apply workshop hours to augment credits, please inform SETON well in advance and they will provide individual assessments of performance and participation metrics as needed. It is up to your university/organization to determine if the certificate and assessment can be used to augment credits.
